History and Condition

These SCSI Hard Disk Drives were originally purchased for use in our server. They are a matched set, i.e. all the same part number with the first drive (sn:1243 rev B) and the rest revision C. We used them in a RAID Array and they performed flawlessly. You can either use them as part of a RAID set-up, or individually. They are rock-solid and we never had a problem. These drives were originally installed in Removable Hard Disk Rack and Trays so we could swap in/out drives from our server for backup. We removed these drives from service, performed a data integrity and surface scan to verify that they truly are in excellent condition, and performed a low-level format. They are clean and in like new condition.

These drives have the Ultra3 SCSI interface (also called Ultra-160, Fast Wide) and use the 68 pin connector. They are specified with a 16-bit data bus width (twice standard SCSI of 8, so called Wide) and data transfer bandwidth of 160 MBytes / sec. (1280 Mbits/sec). In our use they seem to perform as specified without issue. The data is transfered over the SCSI as Low-Voltage-Differential (LVD) and Single-Ended (SE). These are just standard SCSI-3 specifications, but noted here so you know what it means.

We have also used these drives for video processing and editing, and the combination of SCSI, Removable Racks (sold separately as noted below), and a matched RAID set are truly an awesome combination.

We also have Removable hard Disk Drive Rack and Tray assemblies for use with these drives available on a separate auction. These allow you to swap in/out the drives easy, and also allow you to set the SCSI ID with push-buttons, monitor drive voltage and temperature with a front-panel LCD, and set alarm conditions - so please review our other auctions.

We will combine shipping with our other auctions
