Scientific Solutions 50 conductor Flat Shielded Ribbon Cable

The Scientific Solutions 50 conductor Flat Shielded Ribbon Cable is made to connect two pieces of equipment that each use a 50 position PIN header connector. The cable is terminated on each end by a 50 position SOCKET header connector. The cable normally is gray in color with a red stripe to indicate the position of the pin #1 conductor.

This cable is a electrically Shielded Ribbon Cable and is typcially used to connected between the LabMaster DMA computer interface and the External LabMaster DMA A/D board, which is normally housed in a DeskTop unit.

The shielded consists of a fine copper mesh that covers the entire width and lenth of the cable. The shield is covered with a layer PVC plastic insulation. To expose the shield, the PCV insulation is cut and peeled back. The copper mesh can then be attached to ground using a clamping bracket. Another option is to peel back the plastic and expose just the end of the shield and solder a ground wire to this shield which then can be attached to a grounding location. For proper shielding, it is important that one end of the shield is connected to your signal/shielding ground.

The 50 conductor cable comes in a standard length of 6 foot, and can be ordered in lengths of 10 or 50 feet to accommodate special applications.
